When a normal baby has crying spells for over three hours at a time, at least three days a week in a 3-week span, the infant most likely has NE infantile colic. There are some suggestions as to why infantile colic occurs. They include excessive gas, food intolerance/allergy, and abnormal peristalsis.
In a normal, growing infant, infantile colic can begin between the first and second week of life. After it reaches a peak at around week six, infantile colic ceases during the second to third month. Actually, 20-30% of newborns have infantile colic in Omaha. It is normal for the baby to start showing signs of infantile colic at the end of the day and at around the age when sleep deprivation has really hit the parents. It is no wonder that with colic babies, parents can become frustrated, discouraged, and depressed.
The first visit to the doctor of chiropractic, Dr Jeffrey Clark DC, will include a detailed health history and initial examination; this will determine the extent of the infantile colic. The chiropractor will then design a specific treatment plan for your child.
