Digestive Disorders Part1

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

Chiropractic care, as evidenced by many studies, is an effective method of treatment for conditions of a digestive nature. One study showed how infants with infrequent bowel syndrome receiving chiropractic care experienced almost immediate improvement after sessions.

Another extensive study showed a direct connection between Crohn’s disease and spinal misalignments. Crohn’s disease results in inflammation along the small intestine, affecting any part of the digestive tract. In addition to pain, this inflammation results in frequent emptying of the intestines and diarrhea.

The prevailing theory around the cause of Crohn’s disease is that the immune system is acting in response to a virus or bacterium. Corticosteroids are traditionally recommended for the treatment of inflammation of Crohn’s disease. However, the side-effects of corticosteroids can be serious, possibly prompting greater vulnerability to infection. Medication that inhibits the immune system is also commonly recommended. Researchers of the study sought to look for treatment options that boosted the immune system (as opposed to suppressing it) in a way that did not rely on the use of drugs.

Another study revealed the link between spinal misalignments and a wide range of conditions including ulcerative colitis, asthma, Crohn’s disease, and irritable bowel disorder. It showed that correcting those displacements caused improvement (and sometimes complete remission) of symptoms of Crohn’s disease. Findings demonstrate that chiropractic care also offers another benefit. Not only is there improvement of digestive disorders following chiropractic care but also an overall improvement of patients’ quality of life.

When you contact your chiropractic doctor, you’ll receive the appropriate evaluation for your digestive condition
Chiropractors adjust misalignments of the spine that interfere with nerve function. These problems can be painlessly corrected. Once the misalignment is treated, the troublesome symptoms will likely go away as well.

Chiropractic care can benefit those suffering from digestive disorders by restoring the digestive processes’ natural rhythm. Nutritional counseling might also be a part of your chiropractor’s treatment scope (this is addition to spinal manipulation). Vitamin and mineral supplements, healing herbs, as well as other complementary approaches may also be suggested.

Hearth Health Part1

Monday, May 16th, 2011

Those who come from a family with heart disease tend to worry they’ll inherit it. This is not surprising, considering that every year almost 1 million Americans die of issues related to the heart. Even so, there’s no reason to fret. Genetic predisposition is not the only factor that can play a part in your getting heart disease. Various other factors can offset genetic predisposition; altogether, these approaches will affect your heart health over the long term in a more significant way. Here follows some suggestions for nurturing and safeguarding your heart’s health.

Healthy Heart Tips
The combination of lack of exercise and poor diet is problematic, as it can bring on many types of health conditions, such as coronary artery disease. If you change some unhealthy habits now, you’re less likely to have heart issues down the road. Here follows some workable tips that can significantly impact your heart.
* Take in generous portions of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and other fiber-rich foods, as they’re all helpful for your heart.
* Seafood should be included in your diet. Make sure you eat at least two servings of fish weekly.
* Be careful with the amount of trans and saturated fat you eat, and watch your cholesterol. At most, 30% of your daily caloric intake should come from fat. By reducing your consumption of animal fat, you can lower the saturated fat you take in. To cut back on trans fat, steer clear of hydrogenated vegetable oils.
* Cut back on sodium. Avoiding salt promotes heart health.
* Look for fat-free or low-fat versions of dairy products.
* Attempt to receive nutrients from food instead of just relying on vitamins. Beans, for example, taste good and provide many benefits with its vitamins and minerals.
* Start exercising, if you don’t currently do so. It’s essential for a strong heart. As well as regulating blood pressure and cholesterol, exercise also helps prevent diabetes. Exercising for half an hour five times per week will benefit you throughout life. 30 minutes can be broken in 15 minutes at a time; for example you can swim in the morning and late afternoon. However, stay away from fad diets if you are overweight, as these diets do not provide long-term benefits. Such diets also place a burden on your body as well as your heart.
* Look into tai chi. Suitable for people of various age groups and conditions, it works on posture and balance, and it’s also helpful for the heart.
* Quit smoking. This is a must for maintaining your heart’s health.

Genetics And Chiropractic Part1

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Holistic care, such as the care provided by chiropractors, is deemed effective by experts. This type of care can benefit behaviors, overall wellness, and cuts down the price of health care. Lately, though, new evidence has shown that chiropractic adjustments can actually affect the chemistry of biological processes (on a cellular level). Chiropractic is now emerged in the world of genetics.

One finding asserted that chiropractic care can influence the physiological processes responsible for oxidative stress and DNA’s ability to repair itself. Many patients receiving chiropractic care have described its positive effects with scientific reasoning. Although more information is needed to solidify this assertion about chiropractic, the current information is on the side of chiropractic care.

In the study, researchers evaluated serum thiol levels (in those undergoing both short-term and long-term chiropractic care), comparing the results against patients who were not receiving chiropractic care. Serum thiol acts as primary antioxidants (measuring human health status). The test provides a substitute estimate of DNA’s repair enzyme activity that is associated with lifespan health. These results indicated that chiropractic care over the long term is able to restore many patients’ normal physiological states. The patients with the highest mean serum thiol levels were those who did not show symptoms while undergoing chiropractic care as opposed to those with a present disease. These symptom-free patients also displayed levels of serum thiol in greater concentrations when compared to regular wellness values.

There are many factors that affect how the nervous system runs throughout a person’s life, may it be physical, emotional, or chemical stress. Experts have asserted that nerve function is related to oxidative stress, and DNA repair (cellular). According to experts, oxidative stress (free radicals that are churned in the metabolism) affects how we develop diseases and how we age. Oxidative stress presents itself as an agent of DNA damage, which hinders DNA’s ability to repair itself. DNA repair makes up for the damage that the environment causes.
